Dayna Dufour - Owner /Sonographer

Precious Paws, owned and operated by Dayna Dufour, is a business dedicated to providing exceptional diagnostic medical imaging for companion animals. Dayna is a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ultrasound technologist), having graduated from St. Clair College in 2018. She is fully registered with Sonography Canada and the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), and she is an active member of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO). Dayna is also certified in veterinary ultrasound, further showcasing her unique blend of expertise in both human and veterinary medicine.

Her career in medical imaging spans both hospital and private clinic settings, where she performed various ultrasounds and assisted with ultrasound-guided procedures on humans. Dayna’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Honours (BSc[H]) in Biological Sciences from the University of Windsor and a Master of Science (MSc) in Animal Behaviour and Welfare from the University of Guelph. These qualifications provide a solid understanding of both the biological sciences and animal care, allowing her to merge her passion for animals with her technical expertise.

Dayna has over seven years' experience as a veterinary assistant across three different clinics in Windsor-Essex and Guelph. She has expanded her knowledge by shadowing veterinarians in equine and poultry veterinary fields and has volunteered as a small animal surgery assistant at the Ontario Veterinary College. Dayna has also contributed to animal welfare on a global scale through hands-on work in Costa Rica and Nicaragua, where she assisted with free spay/neuter clinics in underserved communities, improving the lives of countless animals. Additionally, she helped the veterinary team at the Can-Am Crown International Sled Dog Race in Fort Kent, Maine, supporting the health and well-being of sled dogs.

Dayna also shares her knowledge and passion for veterinary ultrasound by assisting in Antech’s (formerly Heska) Vet Academy seminars, where she provides hands-on training to veterinarians seeking to expand their ultrasound skills.

In her personal life, Dayna enjoys geocaching, beach volleyball, and paddleboarding. She is a dedicated foster pet parent, particularly for kittens, and she actively participates in wiener dog races with her mini dachshund. Through her work, her education, and her personal endeavors, Dayna Dufour has shown a lifelong commitment to improving the lives of animals and providing top-tier care in both the veterinary and human health fields.

Every ultrasound exam performed will be interpreted by a board certified veterinary radiologist. A typed report will be sent to your clinic within 24 hours.
